The School of Nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications and nominations for a fulltime Nursing Simulation Coordinator position that aligns with the missions of the School of Nursing and UAB. Candidates for this faculty position must have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Nursing, doctorate preferred, and two years of experience working in acute care nursing clinical practice. An unencumbered registered nurse license in the State of Alabama, or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in Alabama is required. Experience working in simulation with students in an academic setting is strongly preferred. This position requires an individual that is innovative, current with simulation standards of best practice, possess a thorough knowledge of accreditation requirements and demonstrates knowledge of clinical skills. To be successful in this role, an individual should possess strong organizational, communication, work ethic and interpersonal skills. It is required that this and all faculty maintain confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA and FERPA guidelines and policies as well as other UAB and SON published policies, procedures and guidelines. This is not a remote position.

Based at the state’s flagship Academic Health Science Center with the 3rd largest public hospital in the nation, the School is a leader and trendsetter in collaborative science and home to the state’s only nursing-specific research initiative with a diverse funding portfolio supporting scholarship in health equity, oncology, palliative care, HIV/AIDS, pediatrics, occupational health, aging, among others. Faculty hold over 70 appointments in university-wide research centers. The School of Nursing is home to an innovative nursing simulation and skills laboratory, which provides faculty and students with interprofessional learning opportunities.
